Mt. Sunapee State Park
Mt. Sunapee State Park is more than just a ski resort. The state park includes a large beach on 4,085-acre Lake Sunapee, one of New Hampshire’s loveliest lakes. Boat rentals and a boat launch are available.

The Fells
The John Hay Estate at the Fells on Lake Sunapee sits on 83.5 acres of pristine New Hampshire land featuring forests, wooded trails, and beautiful gardens. The early 20th century summer home of diplomat John Milton Hay is now a museum, and guests of the The Fells can tour the estate and its gardens. The Fells hosts special events throughout the season, from horticulture talks to concerts to poetry readings. Their annual Christmas at the Fells tours are do-not-miss events for anyone who loves New England holiday decor.

John Hay National Wildlife Refuge
In 1987, late diplomat John Milton Hay’s daughter transferred 164 acres to the United States Fish and Wildlife Service. In 2008, the 83.5-acre property occupied by The Fells (above) was transferred from FWS to The Fells organization, and the remaining 80-acre refuge connecting with The Fells property includes the longest stretch of undeveloped shoreline on Lake Sunapee. The refuge is under custodial oversight of The Fells, but is largely unmaintained and is a wonderful spot for hiking and wildlife observation. Trail guides are available at The Fells gatehouse.

Sunapee Cruises
Scenic daytime cruises and dinner cruises on Lake Sunapee. Boats are available for charter for special events.

New Hampshire Motocross
Dayride passes and event schedules are available online. NHMX holds highly popular three-day classes during the summer months.

New London Barn Playhouse
One of the oldest continually-operating summer theaters in the country, 2025 marks the 93rd season for the New London Barn Playhouse. The playhouse produces high-quality performances every year and is less than 20 minutes from Mountain Edge Suites. Come celebrate local theater!

The Fort at No. 4
Constructed on one of 32 land grants on the Connecticut River issued in 1735, the fort was built in 1744 to protect the growing settlement from attacks by French settlers and native Americans. Now an open air museum, The Fort at No. 4 holds reenactments and historical events throughout the season, including a popular Children’s Living History weekend in August.
